Who’s Performing?
Country music superstar Carrie Underwood is set to headline this year’s event.
“I have such fond memories of performing on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in Times Square back in 2007 and 2015, and I’m beyond excited to take the stage just before the ball drops again this year,” shared Before He Cheats singer Carrie Underwood in a press release. “Celebrating 20 years since winning American Idol alongside Ryan as he marks his 20th year hosting in Times Square makes this moment even more special.”
The New York celebration will also feature an impressive lineup of performances, including the Jonas Brothers, Alanis Morissette, Reneé Rapp, Blake Shelton, T-Pain, Teddy Swims, TLC, Thomas Rhett, Tinashe, Natasha Bedingfield, Kesha, Laufey, Lenny Kravitz, Luis Fonsi, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and more.
Ryan Seacrest has been at the helm of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve for two decades. He joined the broadcast in 2005, stepping in after the late Dick Clark suffered a stroke that affected his speech. Seacrest co-hosted alongside Clark until Clark’s passing in 2012 at the age of 82.
Reflecting on his 20 years as host of the iconic ABC event, Seacrest shared with Variety that it’s tough to choose a single favorite memory.
“There’s a favorite each year, but I can’t remember all the years,” Seacrest admitted. “I’d say my most memorable moment was my first year hosting solo after Dick passed the baton to me. I felt an incredible amount of pressure and couldn’t fully enjoy it because of the stress. But looking back, I’m grateful for how it all unfolded—and that I’m still here.”
